James Avery

GROVETOWN, Ga. - Rev. James D. R. Avery entered into rest at his residence surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, April 24, 2014. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Ramsey officiating. Interment will follow at Crawford Grove Church Cemetery. Rev. Avery was retired as a carpenter from the Richmond County Board of Education. He was a US Army veteran, was a member of the Barber's Association and was a Mason. In addition, Rev. Avery was the former pastor of New Appling Grove Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Mary Avery; children, Michael James (Diane) Avery, Lydia M. Avery-Moore, Janie L. Avery-Mathis, Gertrude M. Avery-Dunn (Randolph J. Dunn, Sr.), Semitar C. Hardy-Avery, Phillip P. Avery, Carleath K. Avery, Jamie Sema Avery, Kalya Avery, Johnetta Reese, Jamison Reese, Jacqueline Warren; siblings, Wade Avery, Carol A. Avery-Roscoe (Alfred L. Harris), Katherine Avery Smith, Hattie M. Avery, Marie Avery-Smith, Lamar Smith, Rev. Richard Taylor, Freddie Smith; and a host of other children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
