Julian K. Akeson

Retired - E.I. DuPont - SRS SRS AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Julian K. Akeson, age 91, of Augusta, entered into rest on Friday evening, March 9, 2007 at Kentwood Nursing Facility, where he had been a resident for the past 9 years. A native of Souix City, Iowa, he had been a resident of Augusta for the past 65 years. Mr. Akeson had retired from E.I. Dupont, at the Savannah River Plant after 35 years. He was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran, who after retiring from Dupont; enjoyed many years of traveling, gardening and being out of doors. Mr. Akeson had been in fellowship at Believers Gospel Chapel for many years. He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ida Ruth VanDyke Akeson. He is survived by: 3 sons, John and his wife, Trinita, Hackettstown, NJ, Philip and his wife Trinka, Augusta. GA, Reuben and his wife Debbie, Jacksonville, FL; 1 daughter, Ruth Marie Gibson, Augusta, GA; 1 sis in law, Eileen Dunphy, Dubuque, Iowa; grandchildren, John Michael, Philip Kyle, Michael and David Akeson, Jonathan Gibson, Darren and David Toole and Ashleigh Akeson; and 6 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 from the Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road with Mr. Andy Scott, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, on Monday at the funeral home.
