Simpson Houck

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Simpson Perry Houck, 87, husband of Vallusia A. Lou Houck, entered into rest, Thursday, February 28, 2013, at his residence. Memorial services, with full military honors, will be held Monday, March 4, 2013, at 5:00 PM, from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Reverend Timothy Pendrey officiating. Mr. Houck, son of the late Simpson and Annie Bess Rabb Houck, was born in Augusta. He graduated from the University of Georgia and joined the United States Navy. He retired after thirty-one years as Lieutenant Commander, and started the Naval Reserve Training Center in Augusta. He was co-owner of Augusta Sporting Goods and was a member of the Whispering Pines Hunting Club. And as an avid fly fisherman, he taught the sport at Augusta State University. He will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Thomas Paul Houck and Jeannie Hightower, of Lincolnton, and Warren Perry Houck, Sr, and his wife, Susan, of Martinez; his brother, Thomas Rabb Houck, of Evans; his grandchildren, Patricia Moon, and her husband, Mitch, Ann Marie Houck, Warren P. Houck, Jr, Erica Lynn Cheney and her husband, Stephen, Amanda Catherine Reynolds, and her husband, Cal, Jackson Perry Houck, and his wife, Alayna, Samantha Lee Houck, and Carly Elaine Houck; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. The family will receive friends Monday, March 4, from 4:00 PM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
