AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Albert Porter McConnell entered into rest on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at University Hospital. Mr. McConnell, a native of Kansas City, Kansas, was born to the late Enoch and Estella McConnell. He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Military, where he served during the Korean Conflict. He was a Purple Heart Recipient and was awarded other medals and commendations. For several years, he was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. His community service included speaking at church and schools regarding Black history and his military service. Survivors include his children, grandchildren and other relatives. Viewing will be held on Monday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Georgia Veterans Cemetery, Milledgeville, GA.
