AUGUSTA, Ga. - Alesia Greenaugh Johnson, affectionately known as Sunshine , entered into rest on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at University Hospital. Alesia was born in Berkshire County, England to Mr. Charles A. Greenaugh and the late Mrs. Janie Greenaugh. At a young age, her family moved to the United States and settled in Augusta, Georgia. Here, she became a Charter Member of Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church. She was a 1972 graduate of Glenn Hills High School. She went on to attend Mercer University and completed her studies at Augusta State University. She retired as an educator with the Richmond County School System after 26 years of dedicated service. Her passion for education, politics and children touched and impacted many lives. Her passion for children and education became her vision, and in 2005, she founded Sunshine Tutoring and Learning Center. Through this service, she was able to continue her passion for teaching by tutoring, mentoring and providing countless scholarships to Augusta s youth. She was preceded in death by her mother, Janie Greenaugh. She leaves to continue her legacy, her father, Mr. Charles A. Big Daddy Greenaugh; two brothers, Dr. Kevin (Cheryle) Greenaugh and Daryl Greenaugh, Maryland; two daughters, Jacinta (Ronald) Walton and Chimere Joy (George) Johnson Brown; nine granddaughters, Saquoia, Jailyn, Jada, Janay, Kiana, Janie, Tiana, Brooklyn and Londyn; and a host of family, friends and former students. Services celebrating her life will be conducted Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at Belle Terrace Presbyterian Church, 2454 Golden Camp Road. **The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
