AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Tarver Smith, 77 wife of the late James William Smith, Sr., passed peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. Funeral services will be on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 2:00 P.M., at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Ryan Smith, Marc Kniphfer, Jeff Ard, Waine Mobley, Steve Edderly and Ricky Flinchum. She was preceded in death by a grandchild Tina Marie Smith. Survivors include her children, James W. Smith, Jr., and wife Debbie, Deborah S. Hill and husband Frank and Gilbert "Gil" Smith and wife Lori; sister, Laverne Smith of Ohio; She was blessed to have extended children, Wayne and Linda Glasscock, six grandchildren, Donna, Tobi, Jennifer, Ryan, Layla, Macy and was very proud of her five great grandchildren and was expecting a sixth. Mrs. Smith was born in Augusta to the late Leroy and Pauline Tarver. She was a beloved member of the community, often working with the elderly and those with special needs. Anne's greatest joy was her family. She retired from Gracewood State School and Hospital after 34 years and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
