HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Annie "Polly" Smith, 72, of Hephzibah, Georgia, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at home with her caring husband by her side. Mrs. Smith was born in Brunswick, Georgia, the daughter of the late Joseph Harley and Annie Irene Head. She was the loving wife to Jesse Davis Smith for thirty-three years. They were blessed to have four children. Mrs. Smith was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia. She and her husband had resided in Hephzibah, Georgia for the last thirty-three years. The family will receive friends during the hours of 9:30 AM to 11:30AM on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, Georgia. A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2016 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Reverend Jim Crandall will officiate the service. The interment will follow the funeral service in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick, Georgia. Active Pallbearers serving during the service will be Ken Brodess and James Smith. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Harley and Annie Irene Head; a brother, Davis Head. She is survived by her husband, Jesse Davis Smith of Hephzibah, GA; a daughter, Deborah Gregory of Brunswick, GA; three sons, Harley Brodess of Brunswick, GA, Ken Brodess of Augusta, GA, and James F. Smith (Aimee) of Valdosta, GA; a brother, Carl Head (Stella) of Chatsworth, GA. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Smith loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and her grandchildren were one of her life's precious treasures. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the , the Autism Foundation, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
