Funeral Services for Mrs. Barbara Tanner Looney, 85, who entered into rest January 9, 2017, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Pastor Rich Bowen officiating. Interment will be Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Cleveland, TN, Rev. Cy Harris officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Looney was a native of Cleveland, TN having made North Augusta her home for the past 60 years. She attended The New Hope Worship Center and was a member of The North Cleveland Church of God. Mrs. Looney worked at Pathway Publishing where she met her future husband while he attended Lee College. She spent her career working in retail for J.B. White's and retired from Macy's Department Store. Mrs. Looney was preceded in death by her parents, Hoyt Samuel Tanner, Sr., and Addie Gertrude Wattenbarger Tanner; a sister, Peggy Tanner; a step grandson, Dustin Richey.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, George Cecil Looney, Jr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lloyd and Connie Looney, Dacula, GA and Brian and Eileen Looney, Gilbert, SC; a brother, Sam Tanner, Jr, Moncks Corner, SC; an aunt, Nell Tanner, Cleveland, TN; five grandchildren, Vanessa Hoffman, Amanda Hasty, Margaret Silvery, Korey Looney and Hillary Futch; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchildren.
