HARLEM, Ga. - Billy Joe Newman, 55, husband of Glenda Griffin Newman, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Ga. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 25, 2015, at Norris Chapel Holiness Church with the Rev. Jimmy Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors. Mr. Newman, son of the late William and Margie Newman, was a retired Aircraft mechanic from the U.S. Navy. He was a member and Chaplain of the Christian Motorcycle Association Resurrection Riders. He was a faithful member of Norris Chapel Holiness Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Superintendent. Billy loved and served his Lord and Savior. Survivors include his wife, Glenda Griffin Newman; one daughter, Trish Newman Thayer (Timothy); one brother, William "Mike" Newman; one sister, Debbie Williams (Jimmy); two grandchildren, Landon Calamas and Dalton Thayer; and special friends, Aaron and Chelcie Nickles. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Newman and Seretha Newman. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until hour of service.
