CANOOCHEE, Ga. - Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Blonnie W. Johnson, age 91, of Canoochee, GA on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at her residence after an extended illness. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Garfield, GA with Rev. Jamie Archer officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, Friday evening, from 5-7 PM. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers are Grandsons: Wade Johnson, Tal Johnson, Sam Johnson, Greg Johnson, Jr., and Stephen Greene Mrs. Johnson was born May 6, 1924, in Herndon, Emanuel County, GA, to the late Caleb Lindsey and Louisiana Bennett Womack. She was educated at Ripley Hill School near Herndon and Canoochee School, in the lower grades and graduated from Emanuel County Institute (ECI) in 1942. Mrs. Johnson was employed a number of years with Argo Mills, and was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Garfield, GA. However, her Lord, family and home were the pride and joy of her life. A very unselfish lady, devoted wife of 46 years, to her late husband, G. W. Johnson Sr., loving mother and grandmother, she worked hard to care and provide, for her family, a delicious meal, clothing and education. She taught her family the importance of hard work and to always do your best. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her siblings; sister, Bridie Black, and brothers, Auby L. Womack, Roy Womack, Robbie E. Womack, and C. L "Buck" Womack Jr. Survivors include: Three Sons: G. W. Johnson Jr. (Betsy) of Twin City, GA, Gary Johnson (Debbie) of Statesboro, GA, and Greg Johnson Sr. (Melinda) of Swainsboro, GA. Six Grandchildren: Wade Johnson (Anna), Tal Johnson (Katie), Kate Anna Greene (Stephen), Sam Johnson, Greg Johnson Jr. (Melissa) and Meghan Johnson. Eight Great-Grandchildren: Halli Kate Johnson, Davis Johnson, Trey Johnson, Joe Johnson, Hank Johnson, Byrdie Johnson, Talmadge R. Johnson Jr., and Benjamin Greene. Brother-In-Law and Sister-In-Law: Leonard and Louise Johnson of Garden City, GA.Special Cousin: Mary Lee Zimmerman of Garfield, GA, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
