A 1969 graduate of Thomson High School, Bob attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a business degree from the Terry College of Business. While at Georgia, Bob was a member of Kappa Alpha Order.

For over thirty-five years, Bob was manager and broker of the family owned Wilson Company, a McDuffie County institution since 1950. Bob was also past president of the Classic South Board of Realtors.

Actively involved in community life, Bob was a member of Thomson Rotary Club where he was President and received both the Paul Harris Fellow and the Will Watt Award. He was a member of the Thomson Boat Club where he served for two years as Commodore. Bob also served on the Downtown Development Authority and Camellia Partners for Heritage and Economic Development. He further served as director for the United Way of McDuffie County and was actively involved with the Housing Authority of the City of Thomson where he was chairman of the Board of Directors.

Bob was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Thomson where he held many positions most recently as a member of the Church Council. He was also a very faithful member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. As a member of Boy Scout Troop 125, Bob achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and later became a troop leader.

An active member of the Wrightsboro Foundation, Bob served in many capacities including chairman. Bob was the organizer of McDuffie Bank and Trust in 1988 and became the first board chairman when it opened in 1989. In 1998, McDuffie Bank and Trust became First Bank of Georgia where Bob was one of the original directors. For many years, Bob was chairman of the loan committee of First Bank until it merged into State Bank and Trust where he continued to serve on the Augusta Advisory Board. Bob was also an active member of the McDuffie County Chamber of Commerce and a past secretary of McDuffie Hospital Authority.

Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Cindy, daughters Mrs. Trammell (Ryan) Bright, Mrs. Martha Delle (Scott) Smith, Mrs. Patty Bea (Kempton) Presley, son Dr. Robert N. Wilson, III and eight grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Virginia Wilson, his brother Stewart and his sister Virginia.
