"Rusty" Lathan Sr. HAMPTON, S.C. - Mr. Carlton Edward "Rusty" Lathan Sr. of Holly Street East in Hampton, died early Monday morning in Roper Hospital in Charleston, after an extended illness. Mr. Lathan was born in Columbia, September 17, 1961 a son of Virginia Dobson Lathan Sinclair and the late Edward H. Lathan. He had been employed at Tyson Foods in Monroe, NC for a number of years, and had worked with KCB Industries in Brunson, until his illness last summer. He was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and attended Varnville 1st Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, Nascar and the Carolina Panthers. Surviving are: His parents of Hampton: Richard and Virginia Sinclair; Wife: Ruby L. Lathan of Varnville; Two sons: Carlton Lathan Jr. of Bluffton, and Courtney Justin Lathan of Hampton; Sisters: Elaine and husband Jeff Netzley of North Augusta, Terri Varn and husband Rick of Columbia, and Debra Ginn and husband Eddie of Varnville. There is one granddaughter: Carrie Lathan of Beaufort. Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday in the Chapel of Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton, conducted by Rev. Dr. Tommy Kelly, with burial in the Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM in the Chapel in Hampton, located at 300 Mulberry Street West.
