APPLING, Ga. - Mr. Carlton Allen Tankersley, 73, of Suan Drive, Appling, GA, entered into rest March 17, 2016. Mr. Tankersley was a lifelong resident of Columbia County and was the son of the late Edward A. Tankersley and the late Viola Bell Dozier. He was retired from Bellsouth as a Technician and served as the Past President of the Communications Workers of America Local 3207. Mr. Tankersley was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church and he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Survivors include his sons, Allen Tankersley, Jr., Jamie Tankersley, both of Appling, GA; daughters, Denise Agy of Illinois, Becky Pentecost of Warrenton, Tracy Welsh of Idaho; brother, Larry Tankersley and sister, Eugenia Bufford, both of Appling, GA; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 3 o'clock p.m., Friday, March 25th, at the Dunns Chapel Church Cemetery with Rev. Kim Webb officiating. The family will receive friends 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service in the Dunns Chapel Fellowship Hall. Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Rd., Thomson, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
