MILLEN, Ga. - Mr. Charles Alvin Sherrod, Jr., 61 years old, of Odum, GA, died Monday, June 6, at his home. He was born in Jenkins County, was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 38.5 years and attended New Beginnings In Christ Church. Visitation will be Friday, June 10, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11 a.m. at the Millen United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Ogden officiating. Burial will follow in the Millen Cemetery. He is survived by his daughters, Karol Sherrod Doyle (Rodney) of Sylvania and Brittany Sherrod Durrence (Greg) of Jesup; his son, Charles Brandon Sherrod (Jenna) of Macon; his mother, Louise Strickland Sherrod of Millen; his sisters, Sandra Sherrod and Susan Sherrod Edenfield (Tracy) of Millen; his brothers, Tom Sherrod of Louisville, TN and David Sherrod (Sarah) of Millen; his grandchildren, Kayla Doyle of Statesboro, Jase Doyle of Savannah, Kassey, Kameron, Jaidyn, Dylan, and Gracie Mae Durrence of Jesup, and Ava and Elaine Sherrod of Macon; several nieces and nephews who also loved him dearly; his dear companion, Lisa Birdwell of Millen; and his best friend, Ellie Mae.
