AVERA, Ga. - Christine Davis Gay, 85, beloved wife of the late Lester Gay, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Pruitt Health Old Capitol. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, May 13, 2016 at Waldens United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. One of seven children born to the late Mattie Landrum Davis and the late Tom Davis, Christine was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, graduated from Stapleton High School and worked at Stapleton Garment Company. Serving her Lord and Savior at Waldens UMC, she loved to read her Bible and fellowship at church. Christine was considered a good friend and will be greatly missed. Christine is also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Cordele, Glen and Vinson. Survivors include two brothers, James Eldus Davis (Joyce) and Elwood Davis (Carol); sisters-in-law, Jo Dean Davis and Jimmie Gay; nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Brent Davis, Ricky Kenny, Mike McGahee, Chris Rickerson, Ricky Rickerson and Vernon Simons. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class as well as Don Black, Jimmy Black, Bennett Howard, Larry Kitchens, Harold McGahee and Fay McGahee. The family will receive friends at James Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00PM, Thursday, May 12, 2016.
