NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mrs. Claire Brooks, 61, wife of Rudy Brooks, of Stevens Creek Road, entered into rest on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at First Christian Church of Belvedere with Rev. Milton Summerall officiating. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park. Mrs. Brooks retired from Edgefield County Schools where she was a secretary to the administration at Merriweather Elementary and the district office. She was a member of the RALI Club and was a loving and dedicated grandmother. Additional survivors include one son, Christopher Brooks and his wife Brandy of Jackson, SC; one daughter, Nichole Wetzel of North Augusta, SC; one brother, Tommy Carey and his wife Janie of Aiken, SC; one sister, Jennifer Baxley and her husband Steve of Barnwell, SC; and three grandchildren, Marissa and Megan Wetzel, and Alexander Brooks. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tomorrow, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Ray Johnson, Junior Johnson, Chris Hoffman, Rob Carey, Wesley Spires, and Jeremy Kelly. Honorary Pallbearers will be the teachers and staff of Merriweather Elementary School. Memorials may be made to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710.
