AUGUSTA, Ga. - Clara (Mattie Clara), the daughter of Mary and Ray Stubbs, was born in Reynolds, Georgia on January 28, 1932. Clara moved to Augusta, Georgia and in 1947 attended the Lamar School of Nursing associated with the University Hospital. She graduated in 1950 and began a long and rewarding career as a Registered Nurse. Clara had 42 successful years of service in nursing and retired from the Eisenhower Army Medical Center in 1992. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God, 1613 Fenwick St., with Pastor Baxter Stanley officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens. Clara is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wilbur; two sons, Aldric (Harriet) Hill of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Stanton (Kimberly) Hill of Hephzibah, Georgia; one grandson, Joshua (Liie) Hill of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one brother, James (Mary) Stubbs of Jacksonville, Florida; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. The family will receive friends today from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The remains will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
