FARRAGUT, Tenn. - Ms. Corina Smith entered into rest on February 1, 2016. A memorial service was held Friday, February 5, 2016 in the chapel at Rose Mortuary in Knoxville, TN, with the Reverends Glenna Manning and Chip White officiating. Ms. Smith was an East Tennessee native and had lived in the Grovetown-Harlem area for 40 years but never lost her desire to return home to her beloved Tennessee. She was able to do so in 2001. Ms. Smith retired in 1990 after working for 23 years as a cook for the Ft. Gordon NCO club and later at the Ft. Gordon Officers club. Ms. Smith deeply loved her family and the many pets she had over the years. Shortly after returning to Tennessee, Ms. Smith went on dialysis. She was on it for 14 years and every day approached this health challenge as her new career, strictly managing all the restrictions and requirements as a recipe for her life. She will be most remembered by her family and friends for that strong will to live and to be with her family for as long as she could. Many heartfelt thanks to Dr. George Newman and the staff of Fresenius West Knoxville, Tennessee who helped her achieve this goal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roxie and Lila Shepard. She is survived by her three daughters, Kathy Ruddy, Suzanne (Bill) West, and Elizabeth Smith; one granddaughter, Bethany (Michael) Trapp; and two great-grandchildren, Katie and PJ Trapp. Rose Mortuary, Mann Heritage Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37919 865-588-8578.
