PHOENIX, Ariz. - Craig Taylor Elrod, 62, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away February 23, 2016. Craig was born and raised in Augusta, GA, the only child of Hugh and Ruth Elrod. He graduated from Glenn Hills High School and Augusta State University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in entrepreneurship and insurance sales and training. Craig had a larger than life personality and an unmistakable laugh which will be greatly missed. He loved coaching youth sports and the outdoors; many will remember him from Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association and water skiing at Clark Hill Lake where he made countless friends. Throughout his life, Craig always maintained a welcoming, kind and friendly demeanor that won the trust and hearts of everyone he met. Craig was preceded in passing by his parents and his wife of over 26 years, Marie Moody Elrod. He is survived by his two sons, C. Taylor and Wynton H. Elrod; brother-in-law, James L. R. "Larry" Moody; sister-in-law, Judy Kandefer Moody; niece, Sarah C. Moody; nephew, Matthew T. Moody; and many cousins including the Cheesborough's, Duncan's, Odum's, Lucky's, and Scoggins'. A memorial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 12, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 605 Reynolds St., Augusta, GA 30901. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider donating to Operation Homefront, The Conservation Fund, or Partnership for Drug-Free Kids.
