Roof MITCHELL, Ga. - Cindy fought the good fight and finally went to her Heavenly home on June 5th 2016. She is cancer free and singing in the choirs of Heaven. She had a calling early in life to help children with special needs. She attended Augusta College and received a Bachelor of Science and Master's Degree in Education. Ms. Roof taught special children for 38 years. She was recognized for her outstanding teaching abilities by her peers, being named Teacher of the Year not once but three times. After retirement from Anderson, SC School District 5. She moved back to the family home place in Warren County, GA. Ms. Roof was a member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church, Anderson, SC where she sang in the choir. Ms. Roof was preceded in death by her father, William "Gene" White and mother, Ivylin Howell White. Survivors include a brother, William Doug White (Alice); sister, Laurie White Hobbs and uncles, Jerry W. Frost and Ray White; nephews, Brian White, Ben White, Daniel Palmer and David Hobbs; and two great nieces, Avery and Morgan White. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made Long Creek Baptist Church c/o Cathy Norris, 1083 Ginger Hill Rd., Thomson, GA 30824 or Flat Rock Presbyterian Church, 909 Flat Rock Road, Anderson, SC 29624, or Thomson Presbyterian Church, PO Box 398, Thomson, GA 30824. Graveside services will be held at 11 o'clock a.m., Thursday, June 9th at Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. James M. Rice, Jr. officiating. The family will have a time of fellowship with friends following the funeral at their home near Jewell. Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Rd., Thomson, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements.
