AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Cyrus B. Smith was born in Burke County, Georgia on October 3, 1923 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Grant Smith. He departed this life on March 10, 2015 at Golden Living Center Augusta, Georgia. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 931 Cedar Street, Augusta, with Reverend Sheldon Cooper officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, with military honors. Mr. Smith accepted Christ during his youth and joined Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized. As a faithful member of Galilee, he served on the choir where he was known for his beautiful baritone voice. He served in the United States Army for three years. He was employed with the Veterans Administration Hospital for over 30 years where he retired. Mr. Smith dedicated his life to his family. He provided care to his mother. He ensured that his siblings received their education. He provided support to his nieces and nephews who endearingly called him Uncle Cyrus. He leaves three siblings to cherish his memory, Isaiah Smith, Augusta, Georgia, Annie Willie (Loran) Gray, Augusta, Georgia and Edward (Shirley) Smith, Atlanta, Georgia; four nieces and three nephews, Aquanetta (Richard) Henderson, Augusta, Georgia, Valerie Thompson, Atlanta, Georgia, Vonda (Douglas) Prince, Augusta, Georgia, Laura (Michael) Henry, Green Cove Springs, Florida, Broderick (Tina) Smith, Appling, Georgia, Edward (Mae) Smith, Douglasville, Georgia, Hugh Christopher Butler, Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews, other relatives and friends.
