Funeral Services for Mr. Daniel Clayton Price, 82, of North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest March 19, 2017, will be conducted Friday morning at 11 o'clock from the First Baptist Church of North Augusta. Reverend Roy Kiser officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Gardens with Veterans Honors and Masonic Rites.

Dan was born on his family's farm in Pembroke, Virginia, the son of the late James and Cella Price. He attended Emory and Henry College and graduated from Bluefield Business College. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.

An active member of First Baptist Church North Augusta, Dan served as a Deacon and as an usher, a member of the Food Service Committee, Laces -4-Love, Lord's Supper Prep Team, and Pastor's Search Committee. He was a member of the Strom Fellowship and in 2007 received the Robert Ledbetter Service Man of the Year Award.

Dan was a member of Acacia Masonic Lodge # 315 AFM, a Scottish Rite Mason, a Shriner and The American Legion Jesse C. Lynch Memorial Post #71. He also was a member of the Augusta Rotary Club, where he was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow.

Dan spent most of his entire life in the hotel business. He began his career in the 7th grade, working at Mountain Lake Hotel, best known as the site of the movie "Dirty Dancing." In the early 70's Dan and his family moved to Augusta where he managed several hotels. He retired from the hospitality business in 1996 after a battle with cancer.

Dan was a man of great compassion, kindness, and caring. He never looked for any rewards or thanks. He did everything out of the pure goodness of his heart. Dan enjoyed his annual family camping trip to his home place on the New River in Virginia. Quite a gardener, he always shared of his bounty with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosanne Campbell Price, three children, Daniel Clayton(Yvonne) Price, Jr., Trenton, SC,; Debbie Price Vaughn of North Augusta, and Donald McClain Price of Oakland, CA.; six grandchildren, Clay Price, Chris Price, Olivia Vaughn, Sara Beth Vaughn, Katherine Price and Elizabeth Price; one great-grandson Corey Vaughn; a brother, James A. (Vernie) Price, Jr., Lynchburg, VA and a sister, Lois (Frank) Wootton, Virginia Beach, VA; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a twin brother, Donald McClain Price and a sister, Frances (Joseph) Shorter.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Shorter, Matthew Campbell, Bob Davenport, Monty Wiggins, Steve Johnston, Mike Chumbley, Clay Price and Chris Price.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6 until 8.
