NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Graveside Memorial Services for Mr. David Allen Enko, 71, who entered into rest November 2, 2016 will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o'clock in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229, with full military honors. Mr. Enko was a native of Westfield, Massachusetts, a former resident of Evans having made North Augusta his home for the past 8 years. He was a US Army Veteran having retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, served in Germany and Korea and retired as a teacher from the Richmond County Board of Education. Mr. Enko taught at both Sand Bar Ferry Junior High and Sego Middle School. Mr. Enko was active in numerous professional organizations having held the offices of Vice President as well as President of the Richmond County Association of Educators. He was a longtime member of the German Friendship Club of Augusta. He loved playing the piano, tennis, cooking and was known for his smoked fish, his generosity and zest for life. Mr. Enko was preceded in death by his daughter, Steffanie Enko. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Helga R. Enko; a brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Sandy Enko, Westfield, Massachusetts; his extended family in Germany and Massachusetts. There will be a Celebration of his life, Monday from 6 until 8 at the Hammonds Ferry Larder. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to USA, PO Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030.
