AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. David Lee Schoenberger, 69, husband of Shannon Schoenberger, entered into rest on Friday, November 27, 2015 at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center. A memorial Mass and celebration of Dave's life will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Father Michael Hull, celebrant. Military honors will be accorded following the service. All are welcome to attend. A private family interment will be held at a later date. A native of WI, Dave was a US Army Veteran, having served in Viet Nam. Following his military service, he spent 32 years caring for families as a funeral director at The Hanson Funeral Home in Racine, WI. Upon his retirement in 2002, he and his wife moved to North Augusta and he began his second career as a caddie. Dave was incredibly proud to be Caddie 193 at the Augusta National Golf Club. He was "on the grass" from the spring of 2005 until the fall of 2014. Dave was member of Siasefi Central State, he loved to play golf and thoroughly enjoyed playing cards. Rook and cribbage were two of his favorite games. Additional survivors include his brother Richard Schoenberger (CeCe) of W. Simsbury, CT; two sisters Kay Cooper (Jim) of Stevens Point, WI and Brenda Gaab (Mike) of Middleton, WI; his mother in law Bettie Hansen of Racine, WI; his sister in law Robin Olesen of Franksville, WI; all of his nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends who have become family. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to The First Tee of Augusta 3165 Damascus Rd. Augusta, GA 30909 or the Episcopal Day School Library 2248 Walton Way Augusta, GA 30904.
