LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mrs. Doris Freeland Blackburn, 78, of 3588 Hwy 220 East entered into rest on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at her residence. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Moon officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Baptist Church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Holloway, Christopher Holloway, Tres Kelly, Lyle Kelly, Jr., Will Gowen, Truitt Dill, Danny Dill and Marcus Sherman. Mrs. Blackburn was a lifelong resident of Lincolnton and the daughter of the late Frank Milton Freeland and the late Ida Quarles Freeland. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, but she and her son attended Pine Grove United Methodist Church. She was survived by three sons, Leonard Blackburn and wife, Mary Susan, Michael Blackburn and Mitchell Blackburn, all of Lincolnton; two daughters, Jean Hanvey and husband, Hal of Charleston, S.C. and Kathy Livingston and husband, Van of Lincolnton; one daughter-in-law, Donna Blackburn of Lincolnton; one brother, Frank Freeland, Jr. and wife, Catherine of Washington; two sisters, Jean Brown and husband, Woodrow of Lincolnton and Mae Lumpkin and husband, Stephen of Jovalie, CA.; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mrs. Blackburn was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Blackburn, son, Henry Ricky Blackburn and grandson, Calvin Blackburn.
