AUGUSTA, Ga. - "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unaware." On July 21, 2015, God dispatched angels to assist Mrs. Dorothy Ann Postell in her transition to immortality. Born July 12, 1951, Dorothy is the daughter of Mr. Roosevelt and Mrs. Nellie Baldwin of Sumter, SC. She was educated in various schools throughout the United States and abroad as a military dependent. In 1969, she graduated from Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia. On August 14, 2004, Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, David Postell. At an early age, Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a former member of First Providence Church in North Augusta, South Carolina where she worked in many ministries. Later, she joined Mt. Zion AME Zion church. She served as a class leader and worked actively in numerous ministries within the church such as the Women's Home and Overseas Ministry and the Christian Education Department as Director of Young Adults. She shared her concerns and interest with family and church members for our young women and adolescent girls in the church. This love and concern fueled her mission to teach them to respect and love themselves for who they were and all they could aspire to be. She was a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, and the voice of reason to many. Dorothy retired from SCANA Energy in January of this year, where she worked dutifully for fifteen years. Dorothy shared her love for arts and crafts through her enterprise Angelic Creations. Where she enjoyed creating handmade angels, gift baskets, floral arrangements, bows, and assorted specialty items upon request. Dorothy's cheerful and positive personality charmed and warmed the hearts of all those she met. Her straightforwardness and sharp wit engaged and entertained us and will never be forgotten. Dorothy is survived by her loving and devoted husband, David Postell; two sons, Desmond Baldwin and Darryl M. Postell; a daughter, Felicia Postell Davis; parents, Roosevelt and Nellie Baldwin, Sumter, SC; three sisters, Renee Trice, Atlanta, GA , Cassandra Baldwin, and Napua (Leroy) Brooks; one brother, Johnny Holiday, Washington D.C.; mother in- law, Emma Jean Postell; in- laws: Robert (Nona) Postell, Riverside, CA, Louida Lowe, Los Angeles, CA , Joseph Postell, Ruby Postell, Emma (John) Ellis, Richmond, VA; five grandsons, Darian Postell, Sr., David Bentley, Daegon Bell; and Darryl D. Postell; one great-grandson Darian Postell, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and special friends. Funeral services will be conducted (today) Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Mount Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, 1237 Summer Street, Augusta with Reverend Albert Young, pastor/presiding Elder officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olive Memorial Gardens.
