NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Dorothy Mae Puckett-Barnett was born in Lithonia, Georgia on August 8, 1927. Dorothy passed peacefully at University Hospital in Augusta on December 19, 2015 after being hospitalized due to pneumonia. While at the hospital, Dorothy was surrounded by friends and family around the clock. Predeceased by her husband, Ed Barnett, and earlier this month, her brother, Thomas Puckett. Survived by her sister, Betty Murray and her husband, Frank; and her sister-in-law, Mary Grace Puckett; and the children from her first marriage to the late John Schliewenz, her sons, John and Guy Schliewenz, and their wives, Betty and Joan; grandson, Guy Schliewenz and his wife, Marcia; and granddaughters, Christina Lewis and Carol Koprowicz and their husbands, Roy and Steven, and six great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of Lakemont Presbyterian Church. Dorothy was an avid golfer and painter. After retirement and until her husband died, Dorothy and Ed lived in a golf community, Indian Lake Estates, in central Florida near Lake Wales. They toured the entire continuous United States in a motor home and usually spent their summers with the motor home parked at Tupper Lake, NY. Dorothy moved to North Augusta, SC to be nearer to her mother, the late Claudia Mae Rogers-Puckett and her sister. During her stay at the Ledges in North Augusta she made many dear friends that became her extended family.
