NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Funeral Services for Mr. Douglas Ray Newman, 72, of Shortcut Road, who entered into rest September 5, 2015, will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. Earl Welch officiating. Entombment in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Veterans Honors. Mr. Newman was a native of Ocala, Florida having made North Augusta his home for the past 40 years. He was a US Army Veteran of Vietnam and was the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Newman was of the Baptist faith and was a retired Construction Carpenter with Bonitz Construction. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing golf. Mr. Newman will always be remembered as being a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Carla Newman; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Sadie Mishoe, North Augusta; two grandchildren, McCoy Mishoe and Gabriel McGhee; two brothers, Donald Lee Newman, Martinez, GA and Floyd Newman, Augusta, Georgia; one sister, Mary Quarles of Edgefield, SC; a number of nieces and nephews; a dear friend, Tony Mercier. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Wednesday evening from 6 until 8. Memorials may be made to Bel-Ridge Baptist Church, 108 Monterey Avenue, North Augusta, SC 29841.
