Mrs. Edie Gregg Walden, 93, entered peacefully into rest February 27, 2017, at her residence in Augusta, Georgia. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Ralph W. Walden. She is survived by daughters Sandra Sehat of Augusta and Judy Walden of Greenville, SC; son Gary Walden with wife Laurie Anne and grandchildren Aaron and Anna Jane of Charlotte, NC; son Scott Walden of Chapel Hill, NC; grandson David Sehat with wife Connie and great grandson Thomas of Atlanta, GA; granddaughter Leila Sehat with husband Tim Brooks and great grandchildren Elliot and Amelia. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Alabama

Mrs. Walden was born in 1923 and raised on a farm in Alabama. Her parents were Hazel T. Gregg and Manta Byrd Gregg and she was one of 11 children. She graduated from Hackleburg High School, attended Florence State Teachers College and taught school in Anniston, Alabama. In 1947 she married a young soldier named Ralph and took on the role of a US Army wife. After many moves Ralph and Edie and their four children took up permanent residence in Augusta, Georgia. Mrs. Walden was a teacher and substitute for many years with Richmond County schools.

Our mother was a special person with a big personality. Our dad said she had the "gift of gab". She liked people and she had a beautiful smile which would light up the room. She was a keen observer of the natural world. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We would like to thank the caregivers who enriched her last days, especially Andrea and Monica.

Mrs. Walden was a member of Curtis Baptist Church and the Greater Augusta Chapter AXPOW.
