HARWICH, Mass.- Effie L. (Tudor) Baker, 90, died Friday at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester, Mass. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Baker, Sr. Mrs. Baker was born, raised, and educated in Augusta. She worked for AT&T in Georgia and then enlisted in the Army and worked as a phone operator during World War II. After her service, she moved to Boston and worked for the Brigham and Womens Hospital Radiology Department and served as a special operator in the Statehouse. She was a member of the Retired State and County Municipal Employees Association and was very interested in gardening and horticulture. Survivors include two sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Rhodes and Helen Gay, both of Augusta, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 3:30 to 5 p.m. tomorrow at Doane, Beal, and Ames Funeral Home, 260 Route 28, West Harwich. A graveside service is at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
