Mrs. Elizabeth Sosebee Wells passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 18th 2017.

Betty was born on March 15, 1926 in Miami to Rex and Clyde Sosebee. She was raised in Demorest, Georgia along with her sisters JoAnn, Carolyn and Marjorie and her brother Rex Jr.

Betty earned her BA at Piedmont College in 1947 where she met her husband of 48 years, Charles Chesley Wells of Plum Branch, South Carolina. They raised their family in Macon where Betty taught school for many years. Betty and Charles retired to Leah where they were active members of Damascus Baptist Church, and formed many close friendships.

Betty loved her Lord and Savior and served Him in many capacities at Damascus Baptist Church including teaching VBS, the Friendship Sunday School Class, and was a member of the choir. She was instrumental in starting the widows group "GEMS" and also was the activity coordinator for the group.

Betty was a 15-year survivor of cancer, and she was a proud member CSRA Gyn Cancer Support Group brought together by Dr. Sharad Ghamande, where she found friendship and purpose in the last years of her life.

She is survived by her sister Marjorie, her three sons, Charles Jr., Larry and David, her daughters-in-law Ellen, Jane and Margaret, her 7 grandchildren, and her 9 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Damascus Baptist Church with the Dr. David Stockon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday from 1:00 PM until time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Damascus Baptist Church, 6375 Ridge Road, Appling, GA 30802.
