THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Elizabeth Turner, beloved wife of Mr. Stacy Turner, entered into rest Tuesday, September 06, 2016, at University Hospital Augusta. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Thomson First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. Mrs. Turner was born in Emanuel County and moved to Savannah as a young adult where she started her family and her banking career. She moved to Thomson with her husband and three children so that he could be a part of his family business, Turner Furniture. She was a banker for over 30 years starting her career at Savannah Bank & Trust in Savannah and retiring from Sun Trust Bank in Thomson. Upon her retirement she worked for several years with her daughter-in-law in her business, Lee Anne Cowart Interiors, Inc. She was a devoted member of Thomson First United Methodist Church where she served for many years as a Preschool Sunday school teacher and a member of the Alter Guild. She was also an active member of the Wrightsboro Foundation and the American Heart Association. Her hobbies include reading, traveling and cooking. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan for many years. Her absolute greatest joy in life was participating in the many activities of her eight grandchildren over the past 32 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Mr. Stacy Turner, Thomson; two sons, Gary Lee (Polly) Cowart, Evans and Jeffrey Alan (Lee Anne) Cowart, Thomson; one daughter, Donna Elizabeth (Rick) Player, Appling; eight grandchildren, Emily Ann Cowart, Lee Cowart, Jim (Jenna) Cowart, Kennedy (London) Cowart, Buchanan Cowart, Hunter Cowart, Taylor (Bridgett) Carrington and Anna Carrington; three great-grandchildren; and her mother, Mrs. Katie Bell, Thomson. She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. A. L. Bell, Swainsboro. Pallbearers will be Jim Cowart, Kennedy Cowart, Buchanan Cowart, Hunter Cowart, Taylor Carrington, and Lee Cowart. Friends may call at the residence or the funeral home. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
