AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Emma B. Hayes, 90, wife of the late Allen Rutherford Hayes, entered into rest on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Wednesday, at 2:00 PM, with Father Mark Van Alstine officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Hayes, a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Emma Lee Hubel Edwards. She had worked as a civil servant at Fort Gordon, was a member and former President of the Richmond County Homemakers, and was a member and former Central District Director of the Georgia Homemakers. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons, Allen R. Hayes, Paul Hayes and Charles Hayes; her grandchildren, Allen R. Hayes III, Tony Hayes, Justin Hayes, Jacob Hayes, Ashely Crabb and Douglas Paul Hayes; as well as seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Drew Mimmie, Chuck Perkins and Vern Simons. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 5:00 PM on Tuesday and visitation will follow until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
