AUGUSTA, Ga. - Eric Jamal Simon Smalls departed this life on Friday, June 5, 2015 at GRU. Services will be conducted on Friday June 12, 2015 at 12:00 noon from the Macedonia Baptist Church, Rev. J. L. Stokes officiating. Interment will be in Walker Memorial Park. Family will receive friends this evening from 6:00- 8:00pm at Second Shiloh Baptist Church. Eric Jamal Simon Smalls was born October 6, 2005 in Augusta, GA to Frankie Mechelle Simon and Eric Donell Smalls. Eric was an energetic, vibrate and happy 9 year old. He never met a stranger. Eric loved basketball, playing outside, xbox 360 and his Nintendo 3DS XL. He attended Second Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir, prayed, recited poems, scriptures and welcomes on numerous programs since the age of 2. Eric was a rising 4th grader at C.T. Walker Magnet School, where he received several honors School Year 2014-2015. Eric's biggest love was basketball and he was called EJ, Easy -E and E. He was a member of the Boys & Girls Club of the CSRA E. W. Hagler Center and played on the club s basketball team. He was a proud member of the AAU Traveling Basketball Team United Elite Warriors and was a Senior Leader of the 3rd Grade team. Eric was a Leader. Eric was also an organ donor and 4-5 more people will live because of him. Eric leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Frankie Simon (He was her only child.) and his father's baby boy (Daddy Man) Eric D. Smalls; siblings, Tony (Bo Jangles), Marcus, Erica, Crystal, Dominque, Eric Deion, Shaunte and Trevon; grandmother, Lessie M. Simon (Na Na). He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorothy (Grandma Dot) Jones and Deacon Frank Simon Jr. Grand Daddy ; aunts and uncles: Uncle Amp Anthony (Doris) Jones of Evans, GA, Rosalind (Julius) Turnipseed of Nashville, Tenn., Christine Gibson of Augusta, GA, Judith (Tyrone) Butler of Augusta GA, Shelia Taylor of Columbia S.C. and Marla (Quincy) Jones of Atlanta, GA; a host of cousins from Augusta, Arizona, Florida and Nashville, Tenn. that he loved. He had a very special godfather, Deacon Willie Pinecone Bowdry; Eric's buddies, Darryl Crooms, Derek Cooper, Justin Meyers, C.J. and Braylon Bussey, Khalon Hudson, Camari Warren, DeMarco Middleton, Jamarian Johnson and John (Jaye) Powell.
