AUGUSTA, Ga. - On September 30, 2015, Mrs. Erma M. Williams, a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt and friend joined our heavenly father. She was surrounded by her family and friends when she made her transition. She was born on January 2, 1931 in Adel, Georgia to the Late William Ellis and Katie McLendon. Mrs. Williams worked at Adel Memorial Hospital as a License Practical Nurse several years before relocating in Augusta, Georgia. She retired from the Richmond County Board of Education Transportation Department. She was admired and respected by all who knew her. She loved cooking and entertaining her family and friends. She was a member of Calvary Gateway International Church, where she served as a church mother. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Melvin Williams Jr. and two brothers, Mr. William Ellis McLendon Jr. and Mr. Jimmy Lee Griffin. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Gateway International Church with Apostle Melvin Colbert officiating. Interment will be in the Adel Cemetery in Adel, GA on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. As her legacy lives on, Mrs. Williams leaves to cherish her memory, six daughters, Dr. Christa M. Williams, Apostle Brenda W. (Apostle Melvin) Colbert, Apostle K. Darlene Williams, Ms. Carol Williams, Mrs. Beverly (Pastor Gary) Rose and Mrs. Freda (Michael) Waller; one son, Mr. Donald Steven Williams; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Geraldine Hollis, Mrs. Mary Jones, Ms. Johnnie M. Williams of Sparks, Georgia and Mrs. Queen McLendon, Daytona Beach, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Elmer Williams; eight grandchildren, Jabari (Erica) Colbert, Shannon (Josephus) Willis, Brandon Rose, Jordon Rose, Andre Rose, Sharmel Williams, Shante Williams and Bryce (Selene) Williams; five great-grandchildren: Aria Colbert, Jayla Colbert, Alyssa Colbert, Kaelyn Williams and Jayonna Reid; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Williams Funeral Home, Hephzibah.
