COLUMBUS, Ga. - Eulalia (Lala) Mulherin Thebaud died Monday, November 30, 2015, at Columbus Hospice House. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 320 12th Street, Columbus, Georgia with Monsignor William O. O'Neill and Father Frank Patterson presiding. Burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. A rosary will be said at Striffler-Hamby on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 6:00pm with visitation to follow. Lala was born on January 27, 1926 in Augusta, Georgia, the seventh of eight children of the late Dr. Francis Xavier Mulherin and Eulalia Feuger Mulherin. Upon the late COL (Ret.) Thebaud's retirement from the US Army in 1974, he and Lala made Columbus their home. She was a devoted member of the Church of the Holy Family where she sang alto in the choir for 30 years, was a member and past president of the Alter Society, and volunteered in the soup kitchen. She was a former Red Cross blood bank volunteer and a 30 year volunteer of St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, accruing over 7,000 volunteer hours. At various times, she was chairman of Patient Service, Junior Volunteers, Orientation, and Corresponding Secretary. In 2002 she was named Volunteer of the Year. She was also a member and four term president of the Pine Tree Garden Club. In addition to her parents, Lala was preceded in death by her husband, COL (Ret.) Charles Carroll Thebaud, four brothers: Frank Mulherin, Jr., Dick Mulherin, Dr. Joe Mulherin, and Dr. Steve Mulherin; two sisters, Margie Mulherin Land and Anne Mulherin Foran. She is survived by her daughter, Carroll Eulalia Thebaud of Columbus; two sons: Charles Carroll Thebaud, Jr., and his wife, Beth of Upperville, VA and Edward Mulherin Thebaud and his wife, Jackie of Starkville, MS; four grandchildren: CPT Brian E. Thebaud and his wife, Caitlin of Ft. Bragg, NC; 1LT Christine M. Thebaud of Ft. Bragg, NC; Ben Thebaud of Starkville, MS; and Margaret T. Brewer and her husband, Justin of Meridian, MS. She is also survived by one sister Lois M. Owens of Orinda, CA; a sister-in-law Joyce J. Mulherin of Augusta, GA; a brother-in-law Vincent J. Thebaud and his wife Sue of Lutherville, MD and 32 nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the choir at Holy Family Catholic Church or a .
