AUGUSTA, Ga. - Miss Eunice Ann Johnston, 45, entered into rest and left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Trinity Hospital. She is the daughter of Harold G. Johnston, Sr., of Augusta, and Winifred "Winkie" White Johnston, of Fitzgerald, Ga. Her father was a principal and mathematics teacher for 32 years and her mother was a librarian and teacher for 30 years, both retired from the Richmond County Board of Education. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Harold G. "Hal" Johnston, Jr., born 1968 to her parents. Eunice Ann Johnston, called Ann, was born on October 31, 1970 at University Hospital. As a toddler, she took swimming lessons and loved to swim most of her life and learned to water ski. Ann attended Warren Road Elementary School and graduated from the Academy of Richmond County High School in 1989. She enjoyed working at home, attending Sunday school classes at Warren Baptist Church, and evening Church services at Lakemont Presbyterian Church where she was a member. She joined Lakemont Presbyterian Church as a youngster and always had faith and love for Jesus. Later in life, she enjoyed attending the Special Followers Class at First Baptist Church. In her later years, Ann resided at House of Life Assisted Living. "For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."- Philippians 1:21. Death is a great loss to a carnal and worldly man, for he loses all his earthly comforts and all his hopes: but to a true believer it is gain, for it is the end of all weaknesses and misery, it delivers him from all the evils of life, and brings him to possess the chief good. Ann was a people person and had many friends of different ages. She loved calendars and looked forward to getting one every year. She was well known in the Montclair area, being a regular at the community pool and playing basketball at the community park. She was baptized at Lakemont Presbyterian Church in Augusta. Her grandfather, Phillip Guy White, attended the service. Her grandmother, Eunice Sullivan White, had passed away in September 1970, before she was born in October. Her paternal grandparents were Georgia D. Johnston, Sr. and Sara Frances Turner Johnston McNeal, both interned at Westover Memorial Park. She attended Lakemont Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Church in America, PCA, Augusta, for as long as she was able to do so. Ann enjoyed her job cleaning brushes at Barbara's Beauty Shop on Pleasant Home Road. She gave half her salary to her two favorite churches, Lakemont and Warren Baptist Church. Ann Also enjoyed her work at Gracewood and the Special Olympics. She told her parents that if anything happened to her to not be sad because she would be in the arms of Jesus. The funeral service will be Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Dr. Gregory DeLoach officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
