Forrest C. Reid Jr. entered into rest on Monday, June 5, 2017 in the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home.

A Celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017 in the Elliott Sons Funeral Home Chapel-Columbia Rd. with Rev. Alvin Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.

Mr. Reid was born on October 9, 1939 to the late Forrest & Myrtis Reid in Leah Ga. He attended Evans High School and later enlisted into the Navy where he served during Vietnam. He was a longtime professional house painter, and was especially proud of his service with the Columbia Co. Sheriff's Office as a deputy. He later retired after 12 years of service with the Salvation Army as the residents' manager.

Mr. Reid was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine May and Ruth Redd. Survivors include his daughters, Rose (Pete) Cox, Cathy (Alvin) Jones, his grandchildren, Kelli Cox, Adam (Brandy) Cox, Chad (Danielle) Cox, Lee Jones, Rachel (Brian) Sweeting, his sister, Carol (Stan) Stankosky, and his 4-great-grandchildren.
