Wood THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Franklin Wood, age 79, beloved husband of Dr. Faye H. Montgomery-Wood, passed away at University Hospital, Augusta, Ga., on August 24, 2016. Frank was born in Ellenton, SC on September 17, 1936. He was the son of Jimmy Clifford and Ollie Mae Muns Wood, and was one of six deceased siblings, Joby Wood, Lillian Huff, Joe Wood, and Mae Young, all of Thomson, and Bob Wood of Gwinnett Co., Ga. His former wife was Jeanette Brown Wood, Augusta, Georgia. He is presently survived by his wife; one daughter, Gay Ansley of Appling, Ga.; two sons, David Wood, Appling, and Cliff Wood, Brasselton, Ga.; and three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Frank was a former manager of Winn Dixie, Augusta, Ga., where he worked for 13 years and agent/manager of Independent Life Insurance Company in Augusta and Asheville, NC for a number of years. For the past 37 years he has worked as Associate Broker for Bob Wood Realty, Buford, Georgia. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Little River Hunting Club in Warren County. He was a Mason and a former member of the National Guard. He was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church, Thomson, and was an active member of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class. The funeral for Frank will be Saturday at 3:00pm in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. B. Redd, Dr. Danny Burnley and Rev. Butch Baston officiating. Burial will be in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens, Thomson. Visitation will be Friday, August 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 at Curtis Funeral Home, Thomson. Pallbearers will be Doug Madden, David Hattaway, Tommy Evans, Bill Inman, Jim Hall and Jimmy Willingham. Honorary pallbearers will be Sweetwater Baptist Church Adult II Men's Sunday School Class.
