WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Franklin Alexander Young, age 82, died on Wednesday December 24, 2014 at University Hospital. The Bonifay, FL native was a graduate of Ft. St. Joe Florida High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Korean War. Mr. Young moved to Waynesboro in 1978 and was a member of the Local Union #72 and was a pipefitter and construction superintendent at Plant Vogtle. Mr. Young loved to fish and being outdoors. Surviving are his wife of 60 years Verlan Harrison Young of Waynesboro; a son and daughter-in-law Stephen Phillip and Etta Young of Waynesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law Lynne and Tony Griffin of Greenville, NC and Kaye and Lee Sessions of Monticello, GA; five grandchildren Matthew Sessions, Linda Thompson, Karen Griffin, Stephen Young, Jr. and Laurah Young; two great grandchildren Griffin Thompson and Harrison Thompson; two sisters Patty Taylor of Fayetteville, GA and Tammy Martin of Pensacola, FL. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Saxon-Prescott Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Saxon-Prescott Funeral Home with Dr. Francis Ford officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Bonifay Cemetery.
