STATESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Fred Bowles, age 90, died Saturday evening June 6, 2015. The Washington County native was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. He was raised in Louisville and later lived in Swainsboro and Waynesboro prior to moving to Statesboro in 1972. Fred worked for Georgia Power for 40 years, retiring in 1986. "He had only one job and one wife in his life." Fred was a member of the Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church, the Georgia Power Ambassadors Club and formerly of the Statesboro Lions Club. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Holley Bowles; a son, James Bowles and a grandson, Matthew Bowles. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Deborah Bowles of Statesboro; two daughters and a son-in-law, Hollie and Angus Campbell-Blair of McDonough and Liby Williamson of Bay District of Bulloch County; a sister and brother-in-law, Ouida and Ernest Weeks of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Shannon Ramsey, Freddy Bowles, Haley Bowles and Kevin Bowles; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
