MCCORMICK, S.C. - Mr. Gaines H. Bell, 75, of 152 Petigru Circle went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, S.C. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 12. 2010 at Town Creek Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C. with Rev. Clint Smith, Rev. Dan Rosser and Rev. Stan Adams officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Bell, Jr., Grayson Mathis, Charlie Poston, Hamilton Mathis, Chandler Bell, Jason Spears, Kelvin Cato and Allen Bateman. Mr. Bell was the son of the late Earl Hubert Bell and the late Viola Scott Bell of Aiken County. He was a retired textile worker and an avid fisherman. Mr. Bell was a dedicated member of Lincolnton Baptist Church, serving as Sunday School Director, Deacon and was a member of the Brotherhood. While in Aiken County he was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church, coached church league basketball and little league baseball. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Sybil D. Bell; four children, Karen B. Poston and husband, Richard, Teresa B. Mathis and husband, Mark, Kenneth L. Bell, Sr. and wife, Juanita, Timothy L. Bell and wife, Melanie all of Aiken; eight grandchildren, Tequila Spears and husband, Jason, Kristina Cato and husband, Kevin, Katie Bateman and husband, Allen, Kenneth Bell, Jr., Amanda Norris and husband, Jeremy, Grayson Mathis, Charles Poston and Hamilton Mathis; nine great grandchildren, Chandler Bell, Bailey Cato, Shyanne Knox, Haley Knox, Alden Smith, Kensleigh Spears, Jeremy Norris, Jr., Olivia Bateman and Addisyn Cato; one brother, Clifford Bell and wife, Dot; three sisters, Eldora Cumbee and husband, Joe, Wilma Chapman and Shirley Cheney and husband, Leigh; brother-in-law, Terriel Deal, all of Aiken and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Bell was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard G. Bell and two sisters, Mildred Zimkouski and Margaret Shelly.
