Mr. George Wesley Rachels, Jr., 79, resident of Wadley, died Friday morning at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville. Mr. Rachels was born in Jefferson County son of the late George W. Rachels,Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Cox Rachels. He was a graduate of North Georgia College and was retired from Rachels Machine and Fabrication in Wadley. George was a member of the Bartow Community Club, Wadley Lions Club and the Wadley Methodist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Rachels was preceded in death by a son- Victor Rachels.

Funeral services for Mr. George Wesley Rachels, Jr. will be held Tuesday, January 31,2017 at 2:00 P.M. from the Wadley Methodist Church with Reverend Chris Shoemaker, Reverend David Boggs and Reverend Tom Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Wadley Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be: Chip Evans, Terrell McMillan, Hubert Jordan, Tommy Battle, Randy Huber, Bobby Brett, Rocky Stewart, and Allen Rachels.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wadley Lions Club, present or past members) , United Methodist Men, and the Will Evans Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends at Wadley United Methodist Church Monday evening between the hours of 5-8 P.M.

Survivors include: wife, Mary Sue Rachels; children, George Wesley Rachels III, Bryan Scott Rachels (Marie), Charles Samuel Rachels (Heidi), Sarah Beth Matthews (Joe); grandchildren, Emily and Roy Norton, Charly and Jonathan Gibson, Ethan Rachels, Molly Rachels, Tori Rachels, Cole Rachels, Alaina Matthews, Mary Margaret Matthews, and David Matthews; great-grandchild, John Jackson Norton; brother, Clark Rachels; 2 sisters, Salley Ann Archer, Bobbie Jean Grover.

Memorials may be made to the Wadley United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 99, Wadley, GA 30477 or to the Bartow Community Club, P.O.Box 251, Bartow, GA 30413 in memory of Mr. George W. Rachels, Jr.
