AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Gladys Temple, 89, wife of the late Sidney Temple, entered into rest Sunday, September 27, 2015, at her residence. Funeral services will be held from the graveside in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM, with Chaplain Ken Gross and Chaplain Finley Limehouse officiating. Family and friends are to assemble at the grave. Mrs. Temple, a native of Collingdale, PA, was the daughter of the late William and Christine McConnell, and had made Augusta her home since the late 1960's. Mrs. Temple graduated from the Thomas Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA and obtained her Masters of Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia. She had worked as a Nursing Supervisor at the Thomas Jefferson Hospital, had also worked at MCG in the Pediatric Department, and retired as a District Health Nurse from the Richmond County Health Department. She was in fellowship at the Believer's Gospel Chapel, was a facilitator and grader with the Emmaus Program in the State of Georgia Prison System and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Temple was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth McConnell. She is survived by her sons, Timothy Temple and Daniel Mark Temple (Dee); daughters, Juanita Grace Temple, Ester Joy Temple and Rhoda Marie Temple; siblings, John McConnell (Bernice), James McConnell and Jessica Stenz (Edward); grandchildren, Mark Andrew Temple (Cyprian), Benjamin Aaron Temple, Stephanie Ann McCune (Richard) and William Alexander Johnson; as well as her great-grandchildren, Sydney Grace Burch, Alayna Madison White and Jaydyn Jane McCune. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the ECS Ministries of GA, P.O. Box 12454, Augusta, GA 30914.
