LOUISVILLE, Ga. - Mr. Gregory Johnson, age 60 of Highland Road, died Wednesday morning, December 9, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 13, 2015, in the Louisville First Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Witt officiating. Burial will follow in the Jefferson County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Corey Johnson, Jimmy Goodwin, Barry Wren, Tim Watkins, Soloman Gamble and Shelley Samon. The Honorary Pallbearers will include the 1988 Louisville High School Eagles baseball team, all the Lady Eagles athletes, and all student athletes who were coached by Coach Johnson. A native of Albion, MI, Gregory was a graduate of Concord High School and Western Michigan University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was a retired teacher with the Jefferson County Board of Education. In his 34 years of teaching, Gregory taught math and science at Carver Elementary and Louisville Academy. He also coached many sports teams at Louisville High School, and Louisville Middle School, was a member of the Jefferson County Band Boosters where he served as president for 4 years, and was a member of Louisville First Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Jean Craven Johnson of Louisville; son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Jessica Johnson of Augusta; daughter, Katherine Johnson of Athens; father and mother, Virgil and Wilma Johnson of Somerset, KY; brother, Michael Johnson of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Fairfax, VA; 3 nieces and 1 nephew, and many friends. The Johnson family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday evening at the funeral home.
