MARTINEZ, Ga. - Harriet L. Parks, 102, Martinez, GA, formerly of Lebanon, PA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Kentwood Nursing Home, Augusta, GA. She was the wife of the late Warren Parks who passed away in 1988. She was born in Lebanon on April 17, 1910, a daughter of the late George and Catherine Smith Donley. Over the years, she worked at S.S. Kresge Company and was their Hoagie Lady. She proudly made 42,165 hoagies from 1960 to 1962 at the price of 29 cents each or 4 for a dollar. After the closing of the store, she was employed in the cafeteria of the Southwest Elementary School where she remained until her retirement in her 60s. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Lebanon and was their oldest member. She was continually volunteering at her church, Spang Crest Manor for 35 years, Halcyon Activity Center, American Red Cross and several additional organizations. She volunteered until age of 96 when she broke her hip for which she stopped much of her activity and moved to Martinez, GA to live with her daughter. Harriet was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother as well as friend and mentor. She will be sorely missed by her myriad of friends and family. She is survived by son, Warren Parks, Lebanon; daughter Jean Hanks, Martinez, GA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, being preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Charles, Leighton and Robert Donley and sister, Martha Orner. A son, George Parks passed away in 2004. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Harriet's funeral service on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. John Carter officiating, from Porterfield-Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, Ltd., 890 Isabel Drive, (next to Quentin Circle), Lebanon. A viewing will be held at the funeral home Thursday, beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be made in Covenant Greenwood Cemetery.
