McKINNEY, Texas - Helen Jean Daniels Swancy went to be with her Lord Friday, December 18 at 3:55 p.m. as her husband lay by her side. At the exact time she took her final breath, her sister Mary Ann from Augusta called her. Jean had been under Hospice care for months being comforted by her daughters Debralee and Hope who live nearby. Her son George, who lives in Santa Fe, was called Thursday and told he should come and be with his Mom. He arrived at 2:20 p.m. Friday and was able to speak to her. It was as if Jean had been holding on until George arrived before letting go. Jean was born and raised in Augusta, GA. and attended high school at the Academy of Richmond County. In 1954, she met her husband, George "Walter" Swancy, during their senior year. Walter's mom, Jean's Sunday school teacher, claims to have picked her out for him. They were married 58 beautiful years. People who know Walter will agree that Jean was the best thing to have ever happened to him. In 2006, Walter almost lost Jean while on the road in their motorhome when she suffered massive cardiac arrest, followed six days later by a severe stroke. The way Walter sees it, God let him have her for nine more years! "I love her and will miss her dearly" -Walter. Jean is survived by: her husband, George Walter Swancy; daughters, Debralee and Hope Swancy-Haslam; son, George Swansea; and sister, Mary Ann Wilson. Jean loved the ocean, so by special charter her ashes will be laid to rest off the coast of San Diego, CA.
