THOMSON, Ga. - Helen Norma Toole was the last child born to Nathaniel and Daisey Toole of Beech Island, S.C. on October 17, 1915. Although she had lost both parents by age 11, she was born with an inherent sense of responsibility, drive, and grace. Helen accepted Christ at an early age which resulted in a lifetime of serving Him. She taught adult Sunday School, junior high training union, and served many terms as president of WMU. Her most coveted responsibility was that of missions. In 1938, she graduated as a registered nurse from Barrett School of Nursing. Upon graduation, she married the love of her life - George Luther Williams. She was a private duty nurse for University and St. Joseph hospitals in Augusta, Ga. for 40 years. In the 1950's, 60's and 70's, she was the most sought after nurse for doctors in the Augusta, Ga. area. In 1963, she moved to Thomson, Ga., where she became the afternoon charge nurse for McDuffie County Hospital. She was well known for her professionalism and for her immaculate appearance. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Retired Nurses Association, and the First Baptist Church of Thomson, Ga. Left to survive are her son, George L. Williams Jr. (Mae); daughters, Barbara W. Page, Sue W. Wilson (James E. Wilson III), and Jackie W. Milburn (David); and 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Gratification is sent to Dr. James Lemley, Dr. Joe Wills, Regency Hospice, and to Eva Battle, Lois Kendrick, and Ramona Hancock. Services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Thomson, Ga., with Dr. Leonard Dupree and Rev. David Lambert officiating.
