AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Wednesday, April 15, 2015, CW3 Henry Sheldon Bentley, US Army (Ret.), 88, husband of Mrs. Lucy Jenkins Bentley. Mr. Bentley was a native of Lincolnton and lived in Augusta. He was a lifelong member of Warren Baptist Church. Mr. Bentley was a World War II Veteran serving four years active duty and 16 years in the Reserves .He retired after 35 years in Civil Service at the Veterans Administration Hospital as Human Resources Manager. Mr. Bentley was an avid tennis player. Family members in addition to his wife include children: Connie Ruth Bentley and Henry D. Bentley and wife Shannon; grandchildren: Tonya Caputo, Misty Nichols, Michael Wargo, Brandi Caldwell, Joshua Bentley and Lane Bentley; stepchildren: Deborah Hall and husband Tony, Peggy Carter and husband Jerry and Tom Husser and wife Rhonda; and sisters: Virginia Pettus, Bobbie Smith and Linda Walton. Mr. Bentley was preceded in death by his first wife Bessie W. Bentley and granddaughter Tawny B. Wargo. A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Warren Baptist Church with Dr. David McKinley officiating. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tom Husser, Joshua Bentley, Caleb Caldwell, Alan Caldwell, Brandon Nichols, Michael Wargo, and Joshua Nichols. Memorial contributions may be made to Warren Baptist Church at 3203 Washington Road, Augusta, GA 30907.
