AUGUSTA, Ga. - Henry Berry "Uncle Hank" Crees, 87, husband of Mary Ann Crees, went home to be with his personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 11:00 AM, from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Danny Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors. Mr. Crees, son of Corrinnia Berry and Henry Crees, served in the United States Army for 20 years. He also served in the Merchant Marines and at the US Embassy. He continued serving Jesus Christ in camp ministries and hospital chaplain ministries. He was in fellowship with Bethany Chapel and was a member of the American Legion Post #205. He was preceded in death by his son, David Aaron Crees. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John Henry Crees, and his wife, Cathy Williams Crees, of Poulsbo, WA; his daughters, Elizabeth Ann Van Wie, and her husband, Karl, of Greenville, SC, and Mary Jane Mathews, and her husband, Steve, of Waynesboro, GA; his daughter-in-law, Ginger Adams Crees, of Smyrna, GA; his brother, Silas Ray Crees, of Melbourne, FL; his sister, Dorothy Lucille Crees, of Melbourne, FL; fourteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be members of the military. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Marshview Bible Camp, PO Box 344, Midway, GA 31320 or to Bethel Campgrounds, 1992 Lee Elgin Rd., Woolwine, VA 24185. The family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2015 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
